1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup calamansi juice (or lime juice)
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cornstarch
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko bread crumbs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

  • Preparation Process:

    1. Marinate the Chicken: In a large bowl, combine the soy sauce, brown sugar, calamansi juice, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken cubes and toss to coat evenly. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or overnight for maximum flavor.
    2. Prepare the Batter: In three separate shallow dishes, place the flour, beaten eggs, and panko bread crumbs.
    3. Coat the Chicken: Remove the marinated chicken from the refrigerator and drain off any excess liquid. Dredge each chicken cube in the flour, then dip into the egg mixture, and finally coat with the panko bread crumbs.
    4. Fry the Chicken: Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C). Carefully add the coated chicken cubes to the hot oil and fry until golden brown and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the oil and drain on paper towels.
    5. Serve: The Dragon’s Kiss is incredibly versatile. Serve it as a main course with a side of steamed rice and a drizzle of sweet chili sauce. Or, elevate it to an appetizer by cutting the chicken into smaller pieces and serving it with a dipping sauce of your choice.

Total Time Required: 30 minutes (preparation) + 20 minutes (cooking) = 50 minutes
